There are many Hindi versions of the *Bhojaprabandha*; in such a situation, the compiler of *Vidyotinī* considers this effort his right to offer a single cowrie upon the threshold of the god's temple. And this right must surely be granted to him! In the words of the great poet Maithilīśaraṇa:
'Hail to the threshold of the god's temple,
upon which have been offered with equal feeling—
the king’s gold coin and the pauper’s cowrie.'
