aparaṃ ca-
śaśi-divākarayor graha-pīḍanaṃ
gaja-bhujaṅgamayor api bandhanam |
matimatāṃ ca vilokya daridratāṃ
vidhir aho balavān iti me matiḥ //
Moreover: / Observing the affliction by eclipse of the moon and the sun, / the captivity even of the elephant and the snake, / and the poverty of the intelligent, / ‘Fate, alas, is powerful!’—such is my conviction.
