mahatām api yajñānāṃ kālena ksīyate phalam;
dattvā 'bhayaṃ pradānasya kṣaya eva na vidyate. || 8 ||

Even of great sacrifices, the fruit decays with time;
[but] of the gift given as safety, there is never any decay. || 8
