Once again, as the king was about to sit upon the throne, another statuette said: ‘O King, that Vikramārka alone was capable of sitting upon this throne, no other. There is no king on the circle of the earth equal to that Vikrama, who, being in the midst of the earth, conquered all rival kings with a sword made of wood and ruled under a single umbrella; who, indeed, abolishing the era of others, established his own era, named Śaka. Subduing all kings that exist on the face of the earth, expelling all wicked people, removing the poverty of all suppliants, dispelling famine, misery, and the like—all that was accomplished by Vikrama. Therefore, there is no king equal to Vikramārka. If such virtues as courage, daring, steadfastness, and generosity are present in you, then sit upon this throne.’ Having heard that, the king fell silent. Thus ends the thirty-second story.
