nāgo bhāti madena, kaṃ jalaruhaiḥ, pūrṇendunā śarvarī,
śīlena pramadā, javena turago, nityotsavair mandiram;
vāṇī vyākaraṇena, haṅsamithunair nadyaḥ, sabhā paṇḍitaiḥ,
satputreṇa kulaṃ, nṛpeṇa vasudhā, lokatrayaṃ bhānunā. || 3 ||

An elephant shines by rut, water by lotuses, the night by the full moon,
a woman by character, a horse by speed, a palace by perpetual festivities;
speech shines by grammar, rivers by pairs of geese, an assembly by scholars,
a family by a virtuous son, the earth by a king, and the three worlds by the sun.’ || 3
