ityuktatvāt kālāpanayanārthaṃ kāpi sakalalokacittacamatkārinī kathā kathanīyā. tataḥ parameśvaraḥ pārvatīṃ praty āha: he prāṇeśvari, śrūyatām; sakalajanahṛdayahāriṇī kathā mayā kathyate.

Since this is said, to pass the time a story should be told that enchants the minds of all people.” Thereupon Parameśvara said to Pārvatī: “O mistress of my life, listen; a story that captivates the hearts of all people is told by me.
