kiṃ tena hema-giriṇā rajatādriṇā vā
yatrāśritāś ca taravas taravas ta eva |
manyāmahe malayam eva yad-āśrayeṇa
kaṅkola-nimba-kaṭujā api candanāḥ syuḥ ||
What is the use of that mountain of gold or that mountain of silver, / on which the trees that dwell remain the very same trees? / We value only Mount Malaya, by resorting to which / even the kaṅkola, the neem, and the bitter kutaja become sandalwood trees.
