3.5

amīṣāṃ prāṇānāṃ tulita-visinī-patra-payasāṃ
kṛte kiṃ nāsmābhir vigalita-vivekair vyavasitam |
yad-āḍhyānām agre draviṇa-mada-niḥsaṃjña-manasāṃ
kṛtaṃ māva-vrīḍair nija-guṇa-kathā-pātakam api ||

For the sake of these vital breaths, unstable as drops of water on a lotus leaf,
what was not undertaken by us whose discernment had departed?
For before the rich, whose minds are senseless with the intoxication of wealth,
we even committed the shameless crime of recounting our own virtues!
