gaterabhāvādvāhyena vāyunā'bhyāhatakramaḥ
saṃkṣīṇavartyanugataḥ snehavāyvabhimūrcchitaḥ
śānto'pi tadupādānādyathā dīpo na dīpyate

Due to absence of passage, its path obstructed by the external wind, / following a consumed wick, overcome by unctuous substance and wind, / just as a lamp, though extinguished, does not flare up again from that fuel,
