tasmānnirdāhināvetau bhṛśaṃ pīḍākṛtau nṛṇām
vividhaṃ sarpaṇāddehe vaisarpastu nirucyate

Therefore these two cause intense burning and bring severe distress to men; / and it is called erysipelas (vaisarpa) because it creeps (sarpaṇa) diversely in the body.
