karṣamātrā jarāṃ mṛtyuṃ hanti satyaṃ śivoditam /
śastrastambhaṃ ca kurute brahmāyurbhavate naraḥ //
measuring one karṣa, destroys old age and death—this is the truth spoken by Śiva; / it produces arrest of weapons, and the man obtains the lifespan of Brahmā.
