drutadrāvam avisphoṭaṃ cikkaṇaṃ mṛdulaṃ śubham /

hataṃ yatprasaredduḥkhaṃ tanmuṇḍaṃ madhyamaṃ smṛtam /

yanmuṇḍaṃ bhajyate bhaṅge kṛṣṇaṃ syāttatkaḍārakam //

That which melts quickly, produces no bubbles, is glossy, soft, and auspicious is [mṛdu]. / That which expands with difficulty when struck is considered the intermediate muṇḍa [kuṇṭha]. / That muṇḍa which breaks, and is black upon fracture, is kaḍāra.
