sūte 'ṣṭādaśasaṃskriyā nigaditāḥ syuḥ svedanaṃ mardanaṃ mūrcchotthāpanapātarodhaniyamāḥ proddīpanaṃ grāsajam /
mānaṃ cāraṇagarbhabāhyajanitadrutiśca tajjāraṇā rāgaḥ sāraṇakaṃ parikramavidhir vedhastataḥ sevanam //

Eighteen processing operations are declared for mercury: steaming, grinding, swooning, recovery, distillation, confinement, and regulation; stimulation resulting from morsels; / the measure [of metals], causing liquefaction by penetration into internal and external states, and its digestion; coloration, movement, procedure of circumambulation, transmutation, and thereafter ingestion.
