sthāpayet punarādāya hyuparisthaṃ malaṃ haret /
saṃghṛṣya ca samīkṛtya liṅgaṃ saṃprokṣayettataḥ //

One should set it down, take it up again, and remove the impurity on its surface;
having scrubbed it and made it smooth, one should then sprinkle the liṅga [with consecrated water].
