1.2.87

tatra kṣipet gandhapuṣpaṃ mūlamantraṃ tridhā japet /
pūrvādidikṣu catasṛṣu catuḥpātrāṇi dhārayet //

There one should cast scented flowers [and] recite the root mantra three times;
in the four directions beginning with the east, one should place four vessels.
