sūryāṃśusparśamātreṇa vahniṃ vamati tatkṣaṇāt /
sūryakāntaṃ tadākhyātaṃ sphaṭikaṃ ratnavedhitam //
By mere contact with the rays of the sun, it vomits forth fire that very instant;
that is named the sunstone, a crystal pierced by jewel[-power].
