yāvat paryeti hastāgraṃ dakṣiṇaṃ jānu-maṇḍalam |
nimeṣonmeṣa-kālena samaṃ mātrā tu sā smṛtā || 33 ||
As long as the tip of the hand circles around the right knee-cap,
equal to the time of an eye-blink, that is considered a mātrā.
