vṛddhiḥ samānaiḥ sarveṣāṃ viparītair viparyayaḥ |
rasāḥ svādv-amla-lavaṇa-tiktoṣaṇa-kaṣāyakāḥ || 14 ||

Increase of all [comes] through similar things; the opposite [comes] through opposites.
The tastes are sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent. || 14
