krodha-jo yāti kāmena śāntiṃ krodhena kāma-jaḥ |
bhaya-śokodbhavau tābhyāṃ bhī-śokābhyāṃ tathetarau || 170 ||
That born of anger goes to rest through desire; that born of desire, through anger; / those arising from fear and grief [are quelled] by both; similarly, the other two by fear and grief. // 170
