śamanair bṛṃhaṇaiś cānyal laṅghya-bṛṃhyān avekṣya ca |
ūrdhvaṃ pravṛtte śamanau rasau tikta-kaṣāyakau || 6 ||
And [one should manage] the other through pacifying and nourishing therapies, having considered whether [the patient] is fit for lightening or nourishing; / when it has started upward, the two pacifying tastes are bitter and astringent. // 6
