Aṣṭāṅgahṛdayasaṃhitā 3533

saṃnipātodbhavo ghoraḥ kṣaya-kāso yatas tataḥ |
yathā-doṣa-balaṃ tasya saṃnipāta-hitaṃ hitam || 180 ||
Because cough of wasting is terrible and arises from the combination of all three humours,
therefore whatever is beneficial for the combined humours according to the strength of the humours is beneficial.
