sirāvidhiḥ śalyavidhiḥ śastrakṣārāgnikarmakāḥ |

catvāriṃśadime 'dhyāyaḥ sūtram śārīramucyate ||

mustayā parpaṭaṃ yuktaṃ śuṇṭhyā dusparśayāpi vā ||

dakṣiṇena dadhat sūcīṃ pālīmanyena pāṇinā ||

'Venesection Procedure', 'Extraction of Foreign Bodies', 'Surgeries, Alkaline Treatments, and Cauterization'. / These forty chapters are the Sūtrasthāna.
