From vāta, swelling is mobile, dry, with rough hair, reddish-black, / having contraction, throbbing, horripilation, pain, pricking, splitting, and numbness. // Or having torn it, one should extract the tract with a hook. / And one whose wound has healed should not, for a year, mount women, mountains, elephants, chariots, or trees. / He should not swim in water or eat heavy foods. // Arising from blood, ajakā, having an elevation and blackness resembling goat excrement, should be avoided.
