kaṣāyā grāhiṇī śītā dhātakī na harītakī |
apradhānāḥ pṛthak tasmādrasādyāḥ saṃśritāstute ||
tryūṣaṇakṣāralavaṇaiḥ saṃyuktaṃ nicayodare ||
Dhātakī is astringent, constipating, and cold, but harītakī is not. / Therefore, taste and the rest, being dependent [on the substance], are of secondary importance by themselves; / combined with the three pungents, alkali, and salt in ascites caused by all three doṣas.
