nā 'runtudaḥ syānna krūro na tīkṣṇo no 'patāpavān |
hetāvīrṣyenna tu phale pāpaṃ pāpe 'pi nācaret ||
One should not wound others' vulnerabilities, nor be cruel, sharp, or tormenting; / one should envy the cause, not the result, and should not commit evil even against an evil person.
