niśātanī tu teṣāṃ suślakṣṇā śilā māṣamudgaprabhā |
dhārāsaṃsthāpanaṃ ca śālmalīphalakam ||
Their whetstone is a very smooth stone possessing the luster of black gram or mung bean; / and the sheath for preserving the blade is a board of silk-cotton wood.
