yathā raktamadhiṣṭhānaṃ vikārāṇāṃ vikāriṇām |

anyanna hi tathā dūṣyaṃ karmedaṃ prathamaṃ tataḥ ||

śālūkābhā panasikā śophastvalparujaḥ sthiraḥ |

hanusandhisamudbhūtastābhyāṃ pāṣāṇagardabhaḥ ||

Since blood is the seat of mutable disorders, / no other dūṣya is like it; therefore, this procedure is primary. / A panasikā resembles a lotus root; but pāṣāṇagardabha is a firm swelling with mild pain / arising at the jaw joint from the two [doṣas].
