prāyeṇartumatī māsaṃ jyeṣṭhaṃ tiṣṭhati pannagī |
āṣāḍhe sarpasaṃyogādaṇḍānāṃ māsi kārtike ||
A female snake generally remains in season for the month of Jyeṣṭha; / from union with a snake in Āṣāḍha, [she produces] eggs in the month of Kārtika.
