pūtanopratakūṣmāṇḍapiśācādyā naradviṣaḥ |
hanyurauṣadhavīryāṇi rakṣākarmaṇyavāritāḥ |
tasmādrakṣāṃ prayuñjīta rakṣogaṇanivāriṇīm ||
Pūtanās, pretas, kūṣmāṇḍas, piśācas, and other enemies of man / would destroy the potencies of medicines if not warded off in the protective rite; / therefore, one should employ protective measures that avert the host of rakṣases.
