dānaśīladayāsatyavratadharmaparāyaṇaḥ |
devatānusmṛtau yukto yuktasvapnaprajāgaraḥ |
priyauṣadhaḥ peśalabāgārabheta rasāyanam ||
devoted to charity, moral conduct, compassion, truthfulness, vows, and righteousness, / dedicated to the recollection of the deities, moderate in sleep and wakefulness, / fond of medicine, and gentle in speech, he should begin the rasāyana.
