Now, one should gather bhallātaka [fruits] that are unblemished, free from disease, endowed with full rasa, size, and vīrya, resembling ripe rose apples, in the month of Śuci or Śukra, and store them in a heap of barley or a heap of black gram. After they have remained there for four months, one should begin to administer them in the month of Saha or Sahasya. Having prepared the body with cool, unctuous, and sweet substances, one should first crush ten bhallātakas and boil them thoroughly with eight times their amount of water. Their decoction, reduced to one-eighth, lukewarm and mixed with milk, should be drunk in the morning by one whose lips, palate, and tongue have been anointed with a gargle of ghee. In this manner, these ten bhallātakas are to be increased and decreased one by one up to thirty. Through this method, a thousand fruits are used, the period [of dietary restriction] is threefold, the diet consists of śāli or ṣaṣṭika rice with ghee and milk; thus, specifically freed from kuṣṭha, piles, worms, prameha, and disorders of fat, one lives for a hundred years free from old age, and the rest is the same as before.
