Those in the knees, hips, shoulders, cheeks, palate, temples, groins, and middle of the head are called flat bones (kapāla);
the teeth are sharp bones (rucaka);
those in the nose, ears, neck, and eye-sockets are cartilages (taruṇa);
those in the hands, feet, flanks, and back are circular bones (valaya);
the remaining are long tubular bones (nalaka).
Thus the bones are of five kinds, their shapes following their names.
For upon them the muscles are bound by vessels and ligaments.
Trembling, cramping, confusion, obstruction of respiration, and scanty sleep [occur].
Taken as a linctus, it quenches pitta, and on account of its small quantity it does not extinguish the fire;
drunk, it overcomes vāta and checks internal heat.
Guḍūcī, castor, pūtīka, bhārṅgī, vṛṣaka, and rohiṣa.
May that glorious Vaiśravaṇa approve your ritual bath!
