Overcoming hunger, thirst, exhaustion, debility, abdominal disorders, and fever, / promoting the natural downward movement of waste products, wholesome, thick gruel stimulates the digestive fire and digests [undigested food]. / And one should quickly cook that which destroys wasting, just as ghee prepared with vāsā and balā. / From unwholesome food arise diseases and remedies according to each doṣa.
