Because garlic, having a pungent post-digestive effect, pungent taste, unctuousness, and heaviness, overcomes kapha and vāta, / yet by those very same qualities it does not produce vāta and kapha. / It stabilizes all bodily tissues, gives strength, and removes chronic complications of the doṣas; / for those whose limbs are emaciated by treatments, milk indeed acts like nectar.
