Sudation [is said to be heavy, sharp, hot...], whereas astringent treatment is smooth, dry, subtle, flowing, and liquid;
generally bitter, astringent, and sweet in summary.
And rubbing [is done] with these very [drugs] along with honey;
oil prepared with the sweet group is a nasal drop;
rubbing with tejovatī, the three pungents, the two kinds of turmeric, kuṣṭha, pāṭhā, kaṭurohiṇī, lodhra, samaṅgā, and mustā cures itching, swelling, pain, and bleeding in all diseases of the gums;
likewise, a medicinal pill [prepared] with these very drugs—the three pungents, barley alkali, realgar, rock salt, and dārvī bark—cures all mouth diseases.
