The measure of marśa-nasya: a drop is that amount which falls from two joints of the index finger when dipped and raised.
These—ten, eight, and six drops—are the superior, medium, and inferior doses.
For decoctions and the like, [the doses are] eight, six, and four [drops].
For blowing powder (pradhamana), however, it is administered by a tube six aṅgulas long with two openings, blown by breath from the mouth, reaching down to the throat, and applied repeatedly according to the requirement of the doṣa.
There, due to the absence of the stated signs of vitiation, [there is] absence of agitation, the color of the tongue, smoothness, freedom from pain, absence of discharge, having a greyish-black border, the middle of the lip being level, or the middle being slightly elevated.
