4.4.28

tatrāha kasmād ayaṃ puruṣo na santatamapasmaratīti? atrocyate---yathā saritāṃ prādurbhāve vārijāni sattvāni prādurbhavanti hāse vā hasanti | yadā yadā rasavegaṃ prāpnuvanti tadā tadā apasmārayanti | tasmād dvyahāttryahāt pakṣānmāsāntarāccāpasmarante ||

On this he asked: Why does this person not have epilepsy continuously? On this it is said: Just as aquatic creatures appear at the rising of rivers, or diminish at their diminution, whenever they reach the surge of chyle, then they produce epilepsy. Therefore, they suffer from epilepsy after two days, three days, a fortnight, or an interval of a month.
