triphalā, yavānī, and the fruits of kuṭaja: / one should grind this wick, named śivā, with goat's urine. // […] / With jaws locked, he speaks indistinctly, / or with jaws firmly closed, he does not speak at all. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.2.) / Oleation drinks, nasal medications, sudations, wholesome diet, / poultices are praised, and enemas are beneficial in facial paralysis. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.3) / In a droṇa of curd and fermented gruel, and an āḍhaka of fat if available, / and meat of wetland and aquatic animals if available, // (Bhṣ6.10.2.4) / sesame, horsegram, black gram, jujube fruits, barley, balā, / the two pentads of roots, rāsnā, hundred-rooted śatāvarī— // (Bhṣ6.10.2.5) / having gathered all this, one should cook it over a gentle fire. / With the rising steam, one should foment [the patient] with tube-sudation. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.6) / And with these one should cook an oil; he should massage with it and drink it; / and one should prepare a poultice from this very equipment. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.7) / Whatever treatment has been declared for the destruction of wind-diseases, / all that in its entirety one should also perform in facial paralysis. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.8) / The great unctuous preparation, balā oil, or indeed śirīṣa oil, / one should administer in drinks, massages, nasal therapies, or enemas. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.9) / And one should pound the meats of wetland animals into a minced meat; / with that, not excessively unctuous, one should have a poultice made for him. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.10) / He whose wind here is completely obstructed by phlegm / develops wasting in the nape-tendons, head, and cheek. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.11) / The man becomes mute, overwhelmed by sleep, breathing heavily through the throat, / copiously overwhelmed by saliva, and his tongue made crooked. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.12) / Such facial paralysis obstructed by phlegm is proclaimed; / for him one should administer an unctuous enema, as well as head evacuation. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.13) / He should be purged with tilvaka or with drop-ghee, / or he should drink aged ghee, and likewise smoke strong medicated smoke. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.14) / When the phlegm has subsided, his management is with nourishing therapies, / and one should administer the treatment of wind-diseases as stated. // (Bhṣ6.10.2.15) / In that case, kapha resides in its seat, and vāyu is said to be adventitious; / therefore, observing the course of the two, one should perform a wind-destroying therapy. // Thus said the venerable Ātreya. / Thus the twenty-sixth (?) chapter in Bheḷa. // // The eleventh chapter. // Now we shall expound the treatment of grahaṇī; thus said the venerable Ātreya.
