sa cinotyupabhuṅkte ca karma karmaphalāni ca /
nahyṛte cetanādhātoḥ pravṛttiḥ sukhaduḥkhayoḥ //

He accumulates and experiences action and the fruits of action; / indeed, without the element of consciousness there is no engagement in pleasure and pain.”
