śimbī rūkṣā kaṣāyā ca koṣṭhe vātaprakopinī/
na ca vṛṣyā na cakṣuṣyā viṣṭabhya ca vipacyate//
The flat bean is dry, astringent, and provokes wind in the alimentary tract; / it is neither aphrodisiac nor good for the eyes, and undergoes digestion only after causing obstinate distension.
