cikitsite trayaḥ pādā yasmādvaidyavyapāśrayaḥ /
tasmāt prayatnamātiṣṭhedbhiṣak svaguṇasaṃpadi //

Because three of the pillars in treatment depend upon the physician, / therefore the physician should exert effort toward perfection in his own qualities.
