The Compendium of Caraka 2.2.16

2.2.16

vamanaṃ hi na pittasya &haraṇe śreṣṭhamucyate/
yaśca &tatrānvayo vāyustacchāntau cāvaraṃ smṛtam//

For emesis is not declared to be best in expelling pitta,
and for the pacification of the wind that is associated with it there, it is traditionally regarded as inferior.
