rasadoṣasannipāte tu ye rasā yairdoṣaiḥ samānaguṇāḥ samānaguṇabhūyiṣṭhā vā bhavanti te tānabhivardhayanti, viparītaguṇā viparītaguṇabhūyiṣṭhā vā śamayantyabhyasyamānā iti/

In the encounter of tastes and doshas, those tastes that have identical qualities or mostly identical qualities with the doshas increase them; when habitually used, those having contrary qualities or mostly contrary qualities pacify them.
