3.8.3

buddhimānātmanaḥ *kāryagurulāghavaṃ karmaphalamanubandhaṃ deśakālau ca viditvā yuktidarśanādbhiṣagbubhūṣuḥ śāstramevāditaḥ parīkṣeta/

An intelligent person wishing to become a physician, having understood through rational insight the gravity or lightness of his duties, the fruit of actions, the subsequent consequences, and the place and time, should first examine the authoritative treatise itself.
