The Compendium of Caraka 4.2.38

4.2.38

rajastamobhyāṃ hi mano 'anubaddhaṃ jñānaṃ vinā tatra hi sarvadoṣāḥ/
gatipravṛttyostu nimittamuktaṃ manaḥ sadoṣaṃ balavacca karma//

For the mind is bound by rajas and tamas; without knowledge, all defects reside therein;
and the mind possessed of defects, together with powerful karma, is declared to be the cause of rebirth and movement.
