4.2.44

daivaṃ purā yat kṛtamucyate tat tat pauruṣaṃ yattviha karma dṛṣṭam/
pravṛttiheturviṣamaḥ sa dṛṣṭo nivṛttiheturhi samaḥ sa eva//

Destiny is called that karma which was done previously; human effort, on the other hand, is that which is seen here;
that which is improper is observed as the cause of initiation, while that which is balanced is indeed the cause of cessation.
