yenāsya khalu mano bhūyiṣṭhaṃ, tena dvitīyāyāmājātau saṃprayogo bhavati; yadā tu tenaiva śuddhena saṃyujyate, tadā jāteratikrāntāyā api smarati/

Whatever mind predominates in him, with that he forms a connection in the next birth; but when he is united with that very pure [mind], he remembers even a past birth.
