evamanayā yuktyā pañcamahābhūtavikārasamudāyātmako garbhaścetanādhiṣṭhānabhūtaḥ, sa hyasya ṣaṣṭho dhāturuktaḥ//

Thus, by this reasoning, the embryo consists of an aggregate of modifications of the five great elements, and has become the substratum of consciousness; for that is said to be its sixth primary constituent.
