One should take an āḍhaka of hand-harvested āmalakī fruits possessing the aforementioned qualities, their seeds removed, dried, and powdered, repeatedly soaked in their own juice twenty-one times in the month of Māgha or Phālguna, and dried and powdered again. Then one should prepare an āḍhaka in total of the drugs promoting longevity, bulk-promoting, milk-producing, semen-producing, and age-stabilizing that are stated in the chapter on the six hundred evacuatives, along with finely chopped heartwoods of candana, aguru, dhava, tiniśa, khadira, śiṃśapā, and asana, and abhayā, bibhītaka, pippalī, vacā, cavya, citraka, and viḍaṅga, boiling them in ten times their amount of water. When that liquid is reduced to an āḍhaka and well strained, one should add that āmalakī powder and cook it over a fire of cow dung or a fire of bamboo chips and reed stalks until the liquid is drawn off. Having taken it off without scorching, one should spread it out in iron vessels and dry it. When it is thoroughly dried, one should grind it smooth on a grindstone upon a black-antelope skin, store it properly in an iron pot, and administer that powder mixed with an eighth part of iron powder, together with honey and ghee, after taking into account the strength of the digestive fire.
