6.3.16

tapovighnāśanāḥ &kartuṃ tapovighnaṃ mahātmanaḥ/
paśyan samarthaścopekṣāṃ cakre dakṣaḥ prajāpatiḥ//
&`tato vighnaṃ śamīkartuṃ' iti pā-.
punarmāheśvaraṃ bhāgaṃ dhruvaṃ dakṣaḥ prajāpatiḥ/
yajñe na kalpayāmāsa procyamānaḥ surairapi//

Eager to create an obstacle to his asceticism, they caused an obstacle to the great asceticism; / though seeing this and capable [of stopping it], the progenitor Dakṣa remained indifferent. / Furthermore, the progenitor Dakṣa did not allot to Maheśvara his rightful share / in the sacrifice, even though being urged by the gods.
